The AI Interview Experience
holito’s AI interviewer conducts natural, voice-based conversations with your respondents. It listens, asks follow-up questions, and adapts in real time - like a phone call, not a text chat.
How the interview works
The AI:
- Follows the objective and themes you set during interview creation
- Asks open-ended questions and follow-ups based on what the respondent says
- Captures key quotes during the conversation
- Wraps up naturally when it has gathered enough insights
The interview screen
The screen provides visual feedback so respondents know when the AI is speaking vs. listening, along with a live transcript of the conversation.
If video is enabled, the respondent’s camera feed appears alongside the transcript.
Respondents can also mute their mic, get help, or end the interview early using the controls at the bottom of the screen.
Interview flow
During the conversation
- The AI listens carefully and asks relevant follow-ups
- It doesn’t rush - respondents can take their time
- It naturally transitions between your key themes
- Important quotes are saved automatically
The AI adjusts its questions based on what each respondent shares, so you get deeper, more relevant insights every time. No two interviews follow the same script.
Ending the interview
The interview can end in a few ways:
- The AI wraps up - When it has covered your objectives, it thanks the respondent and closes the session.
- The respondent ends it - They click “End Interview” and confirm.
- Inactivity - After prolonged silence, the AI checks in and eventually wraps up automatically.
The success screen
When the interview is complete, respondents see a success screen confirming they’re done.
Behind the scenes, holito immediately starts generating the report from the conversation.
Language support
holito currently supports 20 languages. The language is detected automatically from the respondent’s browser, can be chosen manually during microphone and camera setup, or locked to a specific language via your advanced settings.

Video recording
When video is enabled:
- The camera is optional - respondents can decline and do audio-only
- Video can be hidden during the interview if the respondent prefers
- Recordings are securely stored and accessible from your dashboard
Respondents agree to a privacy consent step before the interview begins. They know what’s being recorded and can opt out of video at any time.
Connection handling
If WiFi drops or a tab gets closed, respondents can return to the same link and resume where they left off. Progress is saved across page refreshes and brief disconnections.
Interview duration
Most interviews last 5-10 minutes. The AI wraps up naturally when it has gathered sufficient insights for your objectives.
